Benefit Cards
Benefit cards are quickly emerging in the marketplace and are well-suited for paper-intensive organizations such as benefits administration, insurance companies, and government agencies. By replacing paper disbursements with direct deposit of funds to a card, policyholders and benefit recipients can receive funds quickly and easily, and payments can be made on-the-spot with real-time loading.
By adopting a card program, organizations reduce the time and expense necessary to process paper claims and send out payments. Research has shown that benefit cards increase overall adoption of benefit programs by employer groups as well. Employers no longer act as the middle man for expense reimbursement.
Recipients of the cards win as well. For example, with a Health Savings Account, the need to complete and submit qualifying paperwork and proof of purchases for medical expenses is eliminated. While the account holder must retain their own records for tax purposes, each pay period, the amount specified by the employee is deposited by the employer to the card and the card is ready to use for medical related expenses. No submitting receipts and no long waits for expense reimbursement.
